Ready for a stat that blew my mind? More than 53 millions Americans do freelance work, according to a survey conducted by Freelancers Union and Elance-oDesk. That’s more than a third of the U.S. workforce. Granted, not all of them make their living exclusively as freelancers, but still — that’s a lot of slackers hanging around in their pajamas playing video games.
I’m joking! Seriously now. I work with a ton of freelancers as part of my job here at ClearVoice, and no one knows better than I how industrious this group is. Freelancers work their tails off at all hours of the day and night for pain-in-the-neck clients, often powered by nothing more than caffeine and moxie and an affinity for paying the rent.
So why do they do it?
