I love quotes. It’s sort of an over-sentimental, middle-school-girl quality of mine, I know, but I take solace in the fact that I’m not the only one. I’m also a big fan of sharing inspirational quotes with my friends and family on social media. It’s a soul-baring exercise (albeit a mild one), a way of saying to the world, This is me. This is where my head’s at. These are my aspirations. This is what I hold dear. It’s cheesy, I know. But so what.
And when members of the masses “like” the quotes I post — aha, validation! It says, Hey Megan, we’re with you, sister. We get you. And when they share it?
A few Grumpy Guses disparage this trend; one such communications professional called the practice a “perpetual and slightly dangerous irritant… an intellectual shortcut, a debasement of logical thought.” To him I say: Dude. Life isn’t always marinated salmon tartare with a kale salad and a side of quinoa; sometimes, life is just one of those stovetop things of Jiffy Pop. Lighten up.
It is in this lighthearted and self-aware spirit that I submit some of my favorite quotes for every member of your content marketing team. Share them with your co-workers, and watch the validation pour in.
